A new start, with old things.

I'm going to start this with a poem written to me, from my best friend in first grade. She has stayed my oldest and dearest, and with any luck at all... maybe I can talk her into joining me in writting ALL of the crazy things we did. (Leaving out anything that could still send us to jail of course.)

My Friend, I remember…

I remember when we were in third grade
Didn’t we always laugh?
Swinging double
Getting in trouble
Climbing trees
Skinning our knees
Chocolate long johns, digging for treasure, and Morris code
Wasn’t it great to be eight years old?

I remember when we were in middle school
Didn’t we do such crazy things?
Racing the train
Playing in the rain
Cartwheels all the way to school
We were so cool
Frances and Robbie, changes, anger, and pain
Everything to lose and nothing to gain?

I remember when we were seniors
Didn’t we have any fear at all?
Behind the bandroom during lunch
Hangin’ with the crazy bunch
Poetry class
Full of sass
Shauntee, Journey, Mr. Coleman, and the bathroom trick
Why did we have to grow up so damn quick?

I remember the good times and the bad
Has it really been over 30 years we share?
My oldest and dearest friend
My love to you I do send
No greater friendship can be found
Our minds, our hearts, and our souls are bound
And what I’m trying so hard to say
I’m thankful the Lord sent you my way.

So, dear friend this is your official invitation... will you join me in telling those stories of old?

you don't have anything to say...

Is there some sort of cosmic malfunction that is going to affect all of us? I'm scared.

Can I submit a title suggestion or ten?
"Bullllllllshiiiiiiiiiiiiit"

Or how about a line from that song?
"Wild Women Do, And They Don't Regret It"

well.. where are the other 8. Cause I'm not real impressed with either of those. The second one could be tweeked a bit and maybe something good come of it.

That's really a GREAT poem that your friend wrote for you, and I'm assuming your friend is kentuckycritter, by the comments.

If you create a new blog besure to let all of us know your new URL, so we can visit. If you're just going to change the name of this blog...then we'll find you.

Can't wait til you two Kentuckian's get started...

Tweaking? You want to tweak a line from Natalie Cole?

Good Morning Abandoned.

Yes, Kentuckycritter was my best friend in first grade and we managed to get into so much trouble. So, hopefully you all will enjoy reading the crazy/stupid/unthinkable (to anyone but us) things we did. We are still working things out.. but it will start soon enough.

Bloggy... if the line doesn't fit, then it needs to be tweaked. I don't care who wrote it!

Great poem. Anyone who's ever had a best friend can appreciate it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you two come up with!

(and don't tell Bloggy, but I do like his "Wild Women Do" suggestion)
