These spiders are the most fastinating to me. At night they build these huge beautifully constructed webs, if you get up after sunrise, well you'll not get to see them. Shy they are, and they cut their web and run for cover as it gets light. But isn't this web just beautiful!
A better (word used loosely) picture of the beast that built the web. The boy child hates this guy, he builds his web right in the middle of the walk way to the front door. He has to keep a flash light in his car, so he can figure out exactly where he's at and try to get around him without getting caught in his massive web.

I like to cut and run for cover too, but I no like-a da spiders.
we have big bugs down here... pretty much none of them both me, as long as they stay outside. OR they decide to become part of the family, and I find them "appropriate" housing arrangments.
When we have a lot of wet weather (which has been the last 2 years) I get to do a lot of KILLING. The very large roachs.. I don't really think their roaches, but they look like mammoth roachs, dinosaur looking things that creep me out to the max!! I will tear a room totally apart to find one. Can't sleep if I know there's one in the house. (they can't hurt you, their outside critters that are probably cleaner than my floors!) But they can fly... and if I see one. Its dead.
Pretty much everything else is acceptable.
I hate flying shit. I hate jumping shit too. Eh, they all suck.
Bloggy, don't be a wuss :)
KYBrat - that is an awesome spider web. I saw one similar to it when I was surveying bat populations in a swamp in South Carolina. I've never seen one that densely woven in these parts though.
Swampy, what would really amaze you is how damn fast he can put that thing up! Its big, like 2 1/2 foot across... I bet it doesn't take him more than 30 minutes to complete it.
I've had bigger ones. Several years ago we had one that decided that putting a web up on the front of our carport was a great idea. The light was usually on, and he ate very well with this set up!! His web... would cover the whole enterance to the carport. It was awsome!
Bloggy, I have the funniest story about a praying mantus(spelling?). It really deserves a post of its own tho.
My luck I wouldn't see a web that size until I walked through it and I'd be all icked out trying to swat it all away.
Don't be a wuss? Too late.
if you walked through this web Bloggy, you wouldn't be swat'en it away.. its very sticky, and as dense as it is, it would sorta be like having a facial!
and where did that 'wuss' shit come from? I know you belong to my family, I remember!
This is an awesome blogsite with lots of nature's creatures and plants...I have been looking at everything and plan to come back to look thru your archives...I hope you don't mind.
