We have butterflies this year! It has been ages since we've had more than just one or two here and there. I even saw a lighting bug the other night That is unheard of! Poor kids around here can't go on lighting bug hunts like we used to. Well, they could... but it would be a real hunt because there usually isn't ANY. I think its because they spray for mosquitos.

Anyway, is there some kind of easy way to take pictures of butterflies? I have at least 50 pictures of this fellow, and these 2 are the only decent ones.

Butterflies are a pain to photograph, no doubt about it! These two shots are very nice though. Pretty Eastern Swallowtail.

pain, I'm not sure that's what I'd call it... frustrating. I was out yesterday for a hour or so, without one single decent picture. I did manage to step in the middle of a fire ant bed and I have stings all over my feet and up over my ankles. LOVELY

I've tried to photograph butterflies, but I haven't gotten any good shots.

We have very few pretty butterflies like this one, but we have oodles of solid colored ones.

We also have lots of lightning bugs (fireflies) and the kids like to try to catch them.
